Rome streets empty as lockdown continues
(27 Mar 2020) ROME STREETS EMPTY AS LOCKDOWN CONTINUES
Streets and tourist attractions in Rome were near empty on Friday (27 March 2020) as the country remains in lockdown in an effort to stunt the spread if the new coronavirus.
Italy has reported more than 8,100 dead, more than any other country.
Most have been elderly or with previous medical conditions.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
