Gateway Arch empty as St. Louis stays at home

St. Louis’ iconic Gateway Arch is closed until further notice as St. Louis stays at home amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The surrounding park at the Arch remains open but quiet.
St. Louis city and St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Jackson, Clay and Buchanan counties have enacted stay-at-home orders in Missouri.
Statewide, Republican Gov. Mike Parson has banned gatherings of more than 10 people, but has declined to require people to stay at home despite pressure from some medical leaders.
At least six people have died in the state from coronavirus.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia.
The vast majority of people recover from the new virus. According to the World Health Organization, people with mild illness recover in about two weeks, while those with more severe illness may take three to six weeks to recover.
